JOB SHADOW WITH NATIONALS

  • For the third year in a row, the Washington Nationals will offer an exclusive front office job shadow opportunity for DC Girls Baseball members.

    What: Ever dreamed of working behind the scenes for the Washington Nationals? Now's your chance! Apply for the opportunity to shadow Assistant Director of Player Development and DCGB Board Member, John Wulf, for one to two weeks in June.

    Over the course of the job shadow, you will:

    (1) Become familiar with the various elements of building a baseball team, and have the opportunity to meet members of the front office and ask them questions -- learning from experts in the fields of scouting, player development, Major League operations, and research and development;

    (2) Undertake an independent project, learning how to present key takeaways to a general manager;

    (3) Complete a Scouting 101 workshop, learning about the 20-80 scouting scale, proper scouting terminology, and how to structure an official scouting report.

    DCGB will feature the selected applicant's experience on social media and publish an essay prepared by the selected applicant at the conclusion of the job shadow.

    Who: Open to rising 10th through 12th graders; must be a DC Girls Baseball member.

    When: One to two weeks in June. The job shadow schedule will be set in coordination with the selected applicant.
