SUMMER GAME PLAY (AGES 7-9)

Summer Game Play is a five-week series that aims to develop players’ skills while giving them game-like experiences. Each session is divided into two parts: (1) drills focused on developing a particular skill of the week; (2) a modified game that applies the skill.
Recruit friends to spend Sunday afternoons on the field together!
We’re capping this program at 15 players to ensure lots of reps, so register now!
Sessions are led by a DC Girls Baseball Head Coach, joined by members of DCGB’s 14U-18U teams.
Who: Ages 7-9

Week 1: Infield Play — skill development focuses on core fielding skills with an emphasis on fielding with a transition to throwing (20 minutes). Modified game (50 minutes).
Week 2: Hitting for Power — skill development focuses on players developing a power swing (20 minutes). Modified game (50 mins).
Week 3: Team Defense — skill development focuses on players recording force outs on the bases with time spent working on both catching balls at the base and force outs (20 minutes). Modified game (50 mins).
Week 4: Hitting with Timing -- skill development focuses on timing in hitting (20 minutes). Modified game (50 mins).
Week 5: Putting it all together (60 minute game).
